The sheep would receive a food reward when they saw one of four test photos. Later, the animals could distinguish familiar faces from unfamiliar, even if the known face was in a new orientation. By demonstrating facial recognition in sheep, the researchers hope to use the species as a model for human degenerative diseases of the mind, such as Huntington?s disease.
